Antique 1900s Black Beaded & Embroidered Cotton Mourning Jacket, Scalloped Edges, B36"

Title Default Title
Qty:

Incredible black cotton late Victorian jacket with intricate beading and embroidery on the collar, cuffs, neckline, hem and back body. The sleeves have a voluminous shape, and the large covered buttons feature a star shape embroidery with a bead at the centre. The back features a large slit at the centre, with scalloped edges embellished with embroidery and beading, that would have been worn to show off the bustle of a skirt. The scalloping is repeated along the collar, back neck, sleeves and hem. This is truly a rare and special piece!

COLOR: Black

MATERIAL: Cotton

LABEL: None

CONDITION: Great condition. Beading and embroidery is in tact and is structurally sound and very wearable. The only condition note is that there are a few discolouration marks on the left sleeve - two yellow-ish ones on the front near the elbow area, a very light mark below those, and a faint brown mark on the back of the sleeve near the top that is difficult to photograph. Priced accordingly.
